Reconstruction works of Loka Main Road have commenced

Reconstruction works have commenced at Loka Main Road – asphalt milling is being carried out in the stage from Rubeņu Road to the administrative border of Jelgava, whereas the road track preparatory works of Loka Main Road in the stage from Kalnciema Road to Bērzu Road will be commenced this week. Drivers have to take into account traffic restrictions.

It is planned that the entire 4,733 metres of Loka Main Road will be renovated – from Kalnciema Road to the administrative border of Jelgava. This year, construction works will be implemented in two stages for Loka Main Road: from Kalnciema Road to Bērzu Road and from Rubeņa Road to the administrative border of Jelgava, informs Māris Mielavs, the Head of the municipal authority “Pilsētsaimniecība”.

Construction works have already commenced in the stage of Loka Main Road from Rubeņu Road to the city border – the road track was prepared in the last week, and also asphalt milling works were carried out, which also continue this week. In the nearest months, rainwater drainage networks, external power supply networks and electronic communication networks will be constructed as well as the road surface will be prepared for asphalting.

During the works, drivers have to take into account traffic restrictions – the carriageway will be partially closed, and traffic in the stage from Rubeņu Road to the city border is organised in two directions with narrowed traffic lanes. In addition, a speed limit is determined – the allowed speed is reduced from 70 to 50 km/h, whereas the pedestrian movement will be ensured on the outskirts of the road on the opposite road side of the works area. It has to be added that the bus stop on Ziediņu Road will be preserved – it will be separated from the works area with road equipment so that pedestrians could access the bus stop.
