On Wednesday, 31st of May in Jūrmala there was a ridgepole celebration for the Jūrmala Secondary School of Music and Jūrmala Central library. The highest points of both buildings have been constructed and they have acquired their general shape. The buildings, together with the Jūrmala Art school built in 2015, will form the Dubulti Center of culture and education.

The development of Dubulti Center of culture and education was established in order to create a hub for cultural and public events in the city, as well as setting up a space for Jūrmala’s youth to develop their talents and invest in further education.

The new building of the Secondary School of Music will have four floors. The largest room - a concert hall - will be located in the middle of the building encompassed from all sides by other rooms. The concert hall will be more than 15 meters high and will serve as an architectural accent. On the first floor there will be a chamber hall, a spacious lobby, classrooms, library with a reading room, changing rooms for the artists, administrative rooms and a recording studio. On the second, third and top floors there will be classrooms, furthermore, the outdoor terraces will be accessible from the top floor.

The library will take place in the reconstructed buildings of the former Murjāņi sports school. The new library building will have two floors. The chidren’s library could also be found in the building, as well as an extensive registration area, book storage, reading rooms for periodicals, computer rooms, quiet reading areas for individual work and children’s sector with a computer room and a fairy-tale room for the youngest visitors. The library will also have a multi-purpose hall for meetings with writers, readers interest groups, book presentations and librarian training events.

“5 months have passed since we last met in the same place and laid the cornerstone of this building. At this point, 50% of the overall work has been finished. While raising the traditional ridgepole wreath at the highest point of the building, I would like to say a big thank-you to everyone involved in this project, especially my team of builders for the work they have done. The ridgepole wreath is a testament to good relationships and a symbol of a common goal - to complete the project until the set deadline, so that the children, the parents and the teachers would fill the buildings with their creative energy,” says Guntis Āboltiņš-Āboliņš, the Chairman of the Board of RERE GRUPA.

The construction of Dubulti Center of culture and education is carried out by the subsidiary of association “SIA RE&RE un SIA “RERE GRUPA” “RERE MEISTARI” and must be completed by May 2018; the planned cost of construction is 6.31 million euros. The construction of Dubulti Center of culture and education is funded from the municipal budget.
Dobele Center of culture and education project was developed by “Skonto būve” architects’ office. The construction management is carried out by SIA "Forma 2". All three of the new buildings will have a stylistically unified design. It is planned to save as much of the forest vegetation as possible, including a row of oaks in the middle of the area. In the central part of the territory there will remain an apple orchard, which will be landscaped and supplemented by a recreational area with playgrounds and benches.
