On Saturday, 6 January, the new Sports Centre was opened in Jaunolaine. The project, which is worth over 2 million euros, was commissioned by the local government of Olaine municipality, the general contract was the general partnership “RERE Būve 1”.

As the Chair of the Olaine municipality Council Andris Bergs indicated at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, “by investing in the development of sports infrastructure we have made a great investment in the future of our children, district and Latvia.”

Meanwhile, the project manager of the construction company “RERE Būve 1” Arnis Rītiņš emphasized: “We builders care not only about the structure we have built, but also about the people who will work here, the children who will engage in sports here, who will train here and become strong and driven. I am sure we will hear about the young and talented athletes who have started their career right here. And it is a great responsibility to build this building under the windows of the school where the young generation of builders are learning their profession.”
The new sports centre is connected to the existing Olaine Elementary School building which will allow the elementary school children as well as other residents of the municipality to engage in sports activities and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The first floor of the sports centre includes an entrance lobby with wardrobe, offices for trainers and the nurse, and the large sports hall for basketball, volleyball, handball, indoor football and badminton practice as well as an individual hall for fighting sports. Between both halls, there is a locker room area, sanitary premises for visitors and storage for inventory. The South wing of the building includes the technical area with the integrated heating node and water supply. The second floor of the building includes a fitness centre, sanitary premises for visitors, ventilation unit and balconies for spectators.

The construction project included landscaping work in the area of 10,750 m2 as well as a parking area for 116 cars, 30 benches, 25 bike racks and three flag poles at the main entrance of the sports centre.
