Daily Business: TOP 15 Builders

The magazine Daily Business published its annual list TOP 15 Builders, concluding that, last year, construction companies implemented many significant public procurement and private projects, and some of the leading players in the industry show a decrease in turnover, but some, on the contrary, an increase.

Construction activity in 2019 continued to grow for the third year in a row. The industry ended the year with a positive balance, which was 2.9% higher than in 2018, as per the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB). The influencing factors include the completion of large private construction projects and the peak investment flow of the European Union structural funds, as per the assessment of the Ministry of Economics. In 2019, almost 5,000 building permits were issued, which was 13.2% more than the previous year.

RERE Group ranks fifth in the TOP 15 Builders. In 2019, RERE Group implemented a number of significant new building projects as well as rebuilding, engineering and restoration projects with EU funding attracted by the commissioning entity. The availability of funding has made it possible to develop both ambitious new building projects and focus on preserving the historical heritage, while the first efforts to develop public buildings as passive energy-efficient buildings have emerged. RERE Group appreciates the opportunity to work on the Rail Baltica project. In 2019, the RERE Group put into operation more than 50 objects in total. Among the most visible completed objects are the construction of the Museum Storage Complex, reconstruction and restoration works at Jelgava State Gymnasium, the restored early 18th century wooden house in Jelgava located at 14 Vecpilsetas Street, where the Zemgale Restoration Centre will be located as well as new production buildings and associated infrastructure in Valka and renovation of the new home of the Ogre Region Social Services. In the private sector, the new building of Hilton Garden Inn Riga Old Town in Old Riga should be noted. In 2019, the company also made available to athletes the Cesis City Stadium. In 2019, road construction works were completed in several municipalities.
